Mr. Ramakrishna Damodharan or Rama as he is fondly known to his friends and clients, has a degree in Applied Chemistry and postgraduate degree in law from University Malaya, the primer and most prestigious Malaysian university.
He is a Registered Malaysian Patent Agent (Registration No. PA/2007/0177), Registered Malaysian Trademark Agent Registration No. 4252), Registered Malaysian Industrial Design Agent (Registration No. ERP/2007/0016), Registered Malaysian Geographical Indications Agent (Registration No. 0006/GI) and Registered Malaysian New Plant Variety and Grant of Breeder’s Right Agent.
He is involved in patent, trademark, industrial design, geographical indications, new plant variety and grant of breeder’s right, copyright matters and also issues freedom to operate opinions and infringement opinions. He is also involved in providing litigation support to clients who were involved in IP litigation in many countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Korea, China, United States, Europe, Russia, Argentina etc.
Rama is actively involved in the promotion of IP, speaking at many local and foreign conferences. He has also been invited by international agencies such as International Science, Technology and Innovation Centre for South-South Cooperation (ISTIC) which is under the auspices of UNESCO, Hong Kong Trade Development Center (HKTDC), University of Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) as well as various local government and private entities.
He was invited by Japanese Patent Attorneys Association (JPAA) to deliver an e-learning seminar on trademark and design prosecution and litigation systems in ASEAN countries in English language and he has the distinction to be the first Asian to have done so. The seminar has been broadcast to more than 10000 patent attorneys in Japan.
Rama loves the environment. He is an active member of various non-government organizations which promote care to Mother Earth. He was a founding board member of KGI Berhad, a cooperative which was formed in 2015 with the aim of improving business skills of Malaysian graduates.
Rama is a committee member of the Brands and Innovation Committee and the Asia-Pacific Trademark Office Relations Subcommittee under the Trademark Office Practices Committee of International Trademark Association (INTA).
Rama enjoys playing all sorts of sports, especially football and badminton during his leisure time. He is a hardcore supporter of the English soccer team, Manchester United.
Moganah Raman
Director of Accounts, Finance & HR
Moganah Raman who hails from Kuala Lumpur, graduated with an honour’s degree in Accounting and Finance from University of Greenwich, UK.
Upon graduation, she started as an accounts and audit associate in an audit firm in Kuala Lumpur and gradually promoted to various positions within the same. She has worked extensively with individual, corporate and partnership clients including preparation and review of all types of accounting and audit documents.
She joined Adipven in 2014 as Accounts & Finance Executive before she was promoted as an Accounts, Finance & HR Director in July 2019.
As our Accounts & Finance Director, she is responsible for the overall creation, monitoring and maintenance of our Firm’s accounting and financial information.
She also oversees the firm’s department functions and managing employees. She is well-versed in each of the human resources disciplines, compensation and benefits, training and development, employee relations, and recruitment and selection.
Moganah is involved extensively in Adipven and its sister companies’ daily operations. She has become mentor for the fellow accounts, finance and HR departments’ member staff and she continuously strive to provide the best working environment for our staff members so that they are well taken care of, both professionally and personally.
She was altogether a very cheerful and friendly person. She loves to singing, listening to music and spending some quality times with her kids.
She speaks fluent in English, Bahasa Malaysia, Tamil and Mandarin.
Norlela Mat Lias

Norlela or Lela as she fondly known among clients and friends obtained her secondary and pre-tertiary education in her home state, Johor which is neighboring Singapore. She went on to obtain her degree in Business Administration from the Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) in Kedah.
She is a Registered Malaysian Trademark Agent (Registration No. 4742), Registered Malaysian Industrial Design Agent (Registration No. ERP/2016/0013), Registered Malaysian Geographical Indications Agent (Registration No. 0034/GI) and Registered New Plant Variety and Grant of Breeder’s Right Agent.
Lela specializes in handling patent matters especially filing and prosecution of international (PCT) patent applications and industrial design matters.
She manages a wide clientele portfolio of government agencies and universities. She is involved in advising clients on patent prosecution matters, technical know-how and business commercialization strategies. She also advises clients on new plant variety and grant of breeder’s right.
Lela has more than six years of experience working in construction and oil and gas industries before she embarked on the fascinating world of intellectual property. Prior to joining Adipven, she has more than two years of work experience in another IP firm in Kuala Lumpur.
She enjoys reading, listening to music and sightseeing in her leisure time.
She speaks fluent English and Malay and can converse in basic Mandarin.

MOHD FAIZUL MOHD YIN

Mohd Faizul Mohd Yin

Mohd Faizul Mohd Yin is a Registered Malaysian Patent Agent (Registration No. MYA/2019/0040) and a Registered New Plant Variety and Grant of Breeder’s Right Agent. He currently serves as the Director of Intellectual Property Services (II).
He holds a Diploma in Aerospace Engineering from Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia, and a Master’s Degree with Honours in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bath, United Kingdom. His strong engineering background covers multiple aspects of product innovation and design, with a particular emphasis on research and development using the Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TRIZ).
With decades of experience in the intellectual property field, Mohd Faizul has built extensive expertise in drafting patent specifications, conducting prior art and freedom-to-operate (FTO) searches, and providing technical analysis for patentability, validity, and infringement matters. His work spans a wide range of products, processes, and systems in the engineering and technology sectors.
He completed the South East Asian Patent Drafting (SEAD) course in 2008, conducted by the International Federation of Intellectual Property (FICPI) and the European Patent Office (EPO), earning a professional certificate in patent drafting. His contributions to the industry are well-recognized and valued for their depth and precision.
In 2016, Mohd Faizul was selected by both the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) and the Japan Patent Office (JPO) to participate in a specialized patent program in Tokyo. He is also an active member of the Japan Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships (AOTS) Alumni Society (AAS).
In April 2024, he was appointed as a Patentscope Super User by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), where he contributes insights and feedback to enhance the Patentscope international patent search platform.
Outside of his professional responsibilities, he maintains a deep interest in technology development and innovation strategy. He speaks fluent English and Malay.
Tharshini Maran
Financial Controller
Tharshini Maran was born at Negeri Sembilan and raised in the historical state of Malacca. She completed her studies with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance (Hons) at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN).
She was formerly a Secretary to Mr. Ramakrishna Damodharan before she was promoted to the Admin & Finance Manager.
She is responsible for the smooth and efficient functioning of the Adipven operating systems such as our docketing system, Adifids®. She also monitors ISO and Eco Office matters besides monitoring of the performances of our foreign agents.
She keeps track of office supplies and purchases supplies from our various suppliers to ensure that we have the best quality supplies which comply with Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) to ensure that all of our supplies are eco-friendly products.
Her task also involves monitoring firm’s cash reserves and processing any inflow or outflow funds to and from our bank accounts. She also manages our firm’s accounts payable and receivable. Her responsibilities include reviewing and reconciling accounts, processing payments to agents and suppliers and maintaining updated records of invoices and receipts.
She speaks fluent in English, Bahasa Malaysia, Tamil and Mandarin. She enjoys dancing and watching movies in her free time.
Nur Amalina Zamani
Senior Associate

Nur Amalina was born and raised in Negeri Sembilan. She graduated from Universiti Putra Malaysia with Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology.
She started her intellectual property (IP) career in 2009. Prior to joining Adipven, she has worked in several IP and law firms. She has experience in managing patent locally and internationally as well as conducting novelty searches and drafting patent specifications. She also has experience in filing industrial design and trademark applications.
She manages a wide clientele portfolio of government agencies and universities. She is involved in advising clients on patent prosecution matters, technical know-how and business commercialization strategies. She also advises clients on new plant variety and grant of breeder’s right.
She has attended various courses in enhancing her knowledge of intellectual property including MIPA Drafting Course and the WIPO Korea Summer School.
She enjoys outdoor activities. She is an optimistic and goal-oriented person.
She speaks fluent English and Malay.
Surain Satgunarajah

Surain Satgunarajah attained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) Honours in Biotechnology from University College Sedaya International (UCSI), Malaysia. He also holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Honours degree from Aberystwyth University, United Kingdom. He was the recipient of the ‘Best Student’ award in both International Law and Commercial Law, areas which he has developed knowledge and acumen in.
Prior to joining Adipven, Surain has gained a myriad of legal experiences encompassing diverse areas of law, during his stints in international organisation, and established law firms. He has advised clients on various legal issues, and he has effective communication with his clients which he opines is necessary to meet clients’ demands and expectations. The innate qualities of Surain are punctuality, agility, resilience and determination.
Surain views the world as his classroom and his life experiences as his teacher. He believes one’s thirst to learn is the key to success. Holding true to this principle, Surain welcomes new challenges and experiences that enriches his life.
When he is not carrying out his duty, Surain enjoys reading books (in particular philosophical, and spiritual), entertaining classical music, being involved in volunteering activities, and spending quality time with his family at home or with nature.
Surain is fluent in English, Malay and Tamil languages, in addition to basic Cantonese.
DR. SOON WEI CHOOK

Dr. Chook holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Ph.D in Materials Science, and has 4 years of experience as a postdoctoral researcher at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and Universiti Malaya, both are primer Malaysian research universities. During his time as a researcher, Dr. Chook focused on the research and development of nanomaterials for use in antimicrobial wound dressing and in other areas such as biomass utilizations, catalysis, wastewater treatment, spectroscopy, etc. He has developed a set of skills that allow him to analyse and tackle complex problems and find innovative solutions. Chook has various academic publications and served as a peer-reviewer in several established scientific journals. He has co-invented inventions entitled “A method to produce silver nanomaterials using continuous segmented flow approach” and “Continuous flow photocatalytic wastewater treatment system” both of which have been patented in Malaysia. Additionally, Dr. Chook was awarded an ITEX Silver Medal for the invention of “Graphene Oxide Cellulose Beads”. In addition to his work in academic research, Chook has gained valuable experience through research collaborations with industrial partners in fields such as electronics conducting and latex manufacturing industry. Besides, Chook has also presented his works at several international conferences, both locally and abroad. This experience has given Chook the opportunity to share his research with a wider audience and to collaborate with researchers from a variety of backgrounds. Despite his focus on academic research, Chook always believes in the importance of developing original ideas that potentially make significant impacts and has a strong interest in working in transferring technology from the laboratory to commercialization and real-life implementation. Because of this, he joined Adipven to assist our clients to protect their inventions and to help them to commercialize them. In his free time, Dr. Chook is a curious and eager learner who is always looking to improve his knowledge and skills. Dr. Chook also has a strong interest in the latest development in technology, machine learning, and is an animal lover. Dr. Chook speaks fluent English, Malay, Mandarin and Cantonese.
MYTHILI THIRUNAVUKARASU

Mythili Thirunavukarasu was born and raised in Selangor. During her academic journey, she had the opportunity to undertake an internship at a reputable law firm, where she conducted research and gained practical experience in the legal field. In 2017, she was honoured with the Top Student’ award for the Law of Tort during her LL.B from her college. In 2018, she attained her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Honours degree from the University of London.
She was privileged to have had the opportunity to complete her pupillage in one of the largest law firms in Malaysia, where part of her responsibilities was handling foreign portfolios under the Intellectual Property department. This role allowed her to delve into the intricacies of intellectual property laws and gain expertise in protecting and managing intellectual assets in a global context.
Additionally, she had the unique opportunity to actively participate in recce and raids conducted to combat the proliferation of counterfeit goods. These experiences provided valuable insights into the enforcement side of intellectual property laws and the challenges faced in safeguarding the rights of creators and businesses.
Upon completion of her pupillage, she was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya, after which she continued to further her knowledge by obtaining a Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (Medicine and Law) from the University of London.
Continuing her quest for personal and professional growth, she is pursuing her Master of Laws (LL.M) and embarked on learning the Mandarin language. This decision stems from her recognition of the increasingly interconnected world we live in, where proficiency in languages like Mandarin can foster effective communication and collaboration across diverse cultures and markets.
Through these experiences and pursuits, she has developed a strong foundation in law, she is excited to leverage these skills and knowledge to contribute meaningfully in the intellectual property field, while constantly expanding her horizons to adapt to the evolving demands of the global landscape.
Her passion outside of law consists of animals, music and dance, specifically the Indian classic dance (Bharatanatyam). She also enjoys watching movies and reading books (fictional).
She speaks fluently in English, Malay and Tamil.
