As a research graduate, I had come across many research studies that are very novel in terms of theories and practicalities.
Knowing the importance of intellectual property towards the novel inventions, it has brought me to Adipven (M) Sdn. Bhd. Here, I was given the opportunities to develop and enhance my skills as an IP Associate and I was thrilled to be given an opportunity to kick-start a career in this field even before my graduation.
Yes, it is definitely different than science, but to create awareness about IP protection to researchers (including other research graduates) is what I’m passionate about. While working and completing my studies, I had a few chances to write, publish, attend and present my research articles in relevant international conferences. This is definitely one of the perks of being a research graduate where everything is sponsored and you get to travel and experience new things in life.
For example, I flew to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah to attend and present a research paper in a conference that was organized by International Institute of Chemical, Biological and Environmental Engineering (IICBE). I was mesmerized by the beauty of the islands of Sabah as seen from above, even before the plane landed and I knew it was going to be one of the memorable days of my life and it did. I did not just enjoy the food, cultures, language and the people of Sabah but solo travelling had taught me to open my mind and not to be scared to get out of my comfort zone and enjoy whatever chances you had.
On the day of my presentation, I had successfully presented a paper, titled “Phycocyanin fluorescence in whole cyanobacterial cells as bioindicators for the screening of Cu 2+ and Pb 2+ ” in front of academicians from different backgrounds and different parts of the world including Spain, Kuwait, India, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Taiwan, Korea and Malaysia. These attendees comprised of Professors, PhD holders and Master students, therefore the presentation was nerve-wrecking but fun at the same time.
As scary as it sounded, I had won “Session Best Paper” for my presentation.
